We're used to easter eggs in movies, but in movie trailers ... not so much. That's what makes the new Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World trailer so awesome. It's loaded not only with easter eggs, but with comic-book comparisons, behind-the-scenes videos, audio commentary and more. And it makes us want to see the movie NOW.
We were already counting down the days until Scott Pilgrim vs. The World debuts, but five new posters focused on the fake films of Lucas Lee—one of those evil exes Scott has to defeat, in this case an arrogant actor played in the film by Chris Evans—has us looking forward to its bizarre humor even more.
As soon as we're done working for the day, we plan to head out to see Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. That's why we're glad we caught this animated prequel starring Michael Cera—which explains everything that happens before the film begins—FIRST.
To say that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was a box-office disaster would be an understatement. It opened in fifth place and will likely never make back its $60 million budget. But everything would have gone a lot differently if only its trailer had looked a bit more like The Matrix!
Things seemed to look so good for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World just a month ago. The movie was generating huge buzz on the Internet and at Comic-Con, where banners were draped down the sides of hotels and director Edgar Wright led a throng of fans through the streets of San Diego for the first official—and ecstatic—screening.
