Remember a few months ago when it seemed like space junk was falling out of the sky every other week or so? We thought we were done with that, right? No such luck. Start watching the skies, because Russia's crippled Mars probe is about to come tumbling down.
Remember how last week NASA said one of their satellites was falling back to Earth and it had a 1 in 3,200 chance of killing someone? Well, we all escaped, but guess what? There's another satellite set to fall soon, and this time the odds of death by space junk are even higher.
It's a bird! It's a plane! (No, it's a giant satellite heading toward Earth!) In September, we reported that the German Roentgen Satellite (ROSAT) was on the loose. The rogue piece of equipment is still charging towards Earth and is expected to land within the week.
