Winter is coming. We don't need the characters in Game of Thrones to tell us that (even though they frequently do): unlike them, we have predictable seasons. And now we can enjoy our invariable forecast on a Game of Thrones calendar. Which, now that we think about it, is kind of like rubbing salt in someone's wounds.

Watching Game of Thrones play out on TV is awesome, but something way more fantastic happened today: after years of waiting and waiting, George R.R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons is finally done.

It feels like it's taken a Westeros winter to get here, but we'll finally get to witness the spectacle and glory of George R.R. Martin's novel fantasy world come to life in HBO's Game of Thrones this Sunday night at 9 p.m.
