Two more shows closed out their seasons this week, and both Being Human and Lost Girl managed to close out their season with a numbers boost. On HBO, Game of Thrones continued to dominate, and on Thursday night Touch got a viewership spike while Awake kept struggling to find more viewers.
Fans of the original version of Being Human received a few shocks this weekend, as a major storyline came to a shocking end, and one long-time character said goodbye. But, before he's turned into a ghost himself by angry fans, Being Human UK producer Toby Whithouse has opened up to say it's all part of the plan.
The midseason shows are out in force, and some are handling their schedules better than others. Alcatraz ended last week on a very low note, and now it's Touch's turn to hemorrhage viewers on Fox. Over on NBC, Awake is engaged in a similar struggle. But there's at least one show with no worries: Game of Thrones.
Monster Man continues on Syfy tonight at 10/9C, and this week, our favorite Hollywood prop-making family must design a horrifying werewolf. To get pumped for tonight's show, we found 18 monstrously hairy costumes from film and TV.
The fall shows are heading into the home stretch and hoping to wrap up their seasons with a bang these days, while the new spring shows are often struggling to stay alive amid the competition.
Being Human's Sam Witwer is also a Star Wars vet. The guy's provided the voice work and likeness for Starkiller in the two Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games and he's now the voice of the resurrected Sith Lord Darth Maul on Clone Wars.
With different versions of Being Human a hit on both sides of the Atlantic, new UK star Damien Moloney said he'd be interested to see both sets of vampire, werewolf and ghost buddies meet up at some point.
After four years, will we finally find out what those Fringe Observer dudes are all about? Let's hope so, especially since Fox's Fringe is taking a month off after Friday's episode. This week we'll also have the return of BBC America's Being Human for a fourth season, which joins Syfy's Being Human on the schedule.
With a second season that's going strong from a numbers standpoint and taking its characters into thematically darker territory, the American version of Being Human has staked (GET IT?) out its own place in the supernatural series pantheon. Little surprise, then, that Aidan, Sally and Josh will be back in a third season on Syfy, as was made official by the network today.
We're fully settled into a new year of genre television now, and the list of shows we're watching just keeps getting bigger. Next week, we'll add even more, but this week the shows already on our chart were more than enough to make things interesting. Alcatraz held on to solid numbers in its third week, and Merlin continues to impress over on Syfy. But the big winner was CBS, who saw record nights for both The Big Bang Theory and Person of Interest.
