It is no exaggeration to say that without Shigeru Miyamoto, video games would not be what they are today, and even if they were still as popular, they wouldn't look and feel the same. Through franchises like Mario, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda, he's influenced generations of gamers, developers, writers, and fans, and though he's mastered many aspects of video game storytelling, he's still pushing further. It's hard to pin down a single secret to his success, and of course the field he works in is also often deeply collaborative, but one thing in particular stands out: Fun. Miyamoto wants to have fun, he wants the people who play his games to have fun, and he wants it to be infectious. Mission accomplished.
