The Big Bang Theory
"I used to think it understood a guy like me and the things I liked, but then in one episode they get stuck in the desert cosplaying as characters from ST:TNG. They finally make it back to a diner and everyone starts making fun of them.
"I thought, 'oh, this is the part where they stand up for themselves and be proud that they are cosplaying as something they love.' Unfortunately the scene went no where and I realized, 'oh shoot, the whole joke is that they're cosplaying. We're not supposed to think they're talented and passionate, we're supposed to laugh at them.' From then on I noticed episodes no longer had clever in-jokes about nerd culture, or had the creativity to bring anything new to the tired sitcom formula. Even if I were to watch a older, better episode, I would think back to that diner and make myself sick." - Enginerd19
