writer

Journalist and columnist with Blastr.com and Sci Fi Magazine. Through rain and snow and computer outages and midnight chocolate attacks, I haven't missed a column in 12 years. I'm married to an astonishingly good man named Charles Ott, who also writes sci-fi, and we have two cats who rule the house. We live in Chicago and are part of the science fiction Moebius Theatre comedy troupe (Kathie and Chuck that is! Not the cats!). Although really, it does seem like the time has come for a great, or even marginally okay, sci-fi comedy troupe with cats, doesn't it? Imagine the YouTube possibilities!

It was a big year for sci-fi and fantasy television with Walking Dead chewing up the screen, with The Vampire Diaries killing off its heroine ... kinda, and with American Horror Story getting its freak on. But what TV moments made us laugh or gave us the chills or broke our hearts. And what was our number one favorite moment of the year?
While there's not much reason to turn on the TV this week, there is one significant sci-fi event. Christmas Day brings Doctor Who's annual Christmas special, which will introduce his newest companion and see the return of a few familiar faces. Other than that, we have the season finale of Dark Matters: Twisted but True, a K9 Christmas marathon, Bigfoot and a bunch of ghost stuff.
