Sony Pictures has unleashed the first trailer for Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment's upcoming Underworld: Blood Wars. The fifth entry in the Underworld movie franchise sees the return of Kate Beckinsale’s kickass vampire Selene, who finds herself in the middle of yet another bloody Vampire/Lycan war.
Also returning is Theo James (The Divergent Series) as Underworld: Awakening's hottie-whip-wielding Vampire David, and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as his father, the Vampire elder Thomas. New cast members include Tobias Menzies (Outlander) as the new Lycan leader, Marius, and Lara Pulver (Sherlock) as a Vampire named Semira.
Rounding out the cast are James Faulkner (Da Vinci’s Demons, Game of Thrones), Peter Andersson (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Bradley James (Merlin, iZombie, Damien), Daisy Head (Fallen) and newcomer Clementine Nicholson.
The next installment in the blockbuster franchise follows Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Underworld: Blood Wars was directed by Anna Foerster (Outlander) from a script by Cory Goodman (Priest, The Last Witch Hunter), with Len Wiseman producing. The movie is slated to open on Jan. 6, 2017.
