Don't let your fear of spiders keep you from the first trailer for Rupture

A first trailer for sci-fi/thriller/horror movie Rupture has dropped online, but let me warn you, if you suffer from arachnophobia or if spiders really freak you out and not in a good way, then tread carefully. If not, then go ahead and dig in!

The movie, directed by Steven Shainberg (Secretary) with a screenplay co-written by Shainberg and Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, Devil), stars Noomi Rapace (Prometheus), Peter Stormare (Clown), Michael Chiklis (Gotham), Kerry Bishé (Argo), Lesley Manville (Maleficent) and Ari Millen (Orphan Black).

Rupture centers on Rapace’s character, a single mother named Renee Morgan who has a fear of spiders. She gets kidnapped by a mysterious group who put her through the wringer when they experiment on her fear of the eight-legged critters. I myself am not a fan of spiders (in fact, I break into a cold sweat whenever I see one), so I have to say that trailer kinda freaked me out, but in a good way. However, the most intriguing part is what is revealed about Noomi Rapace’s character in the movie synopsis and poster. Check it out:

Renee Morgan (Rapace), a single mom who lives with her twelve-year-old son, Evan, in a quiet suburban home, is terrified of spiders. Unbeknownst to both, their every move is being observed. While running her daily errands, her car breaks down; and she is violently kidnapped by a group of strangers.

About 24 hours later, in an anonymous laboratory, she is tied up and questioned about her medical history, including her great fear of spiders. Soon her captors explain to her that her genetic abnormality can potentially allow her to “Rupture,” revealing her own true alien nature.

There’s sadly no release date slated for the horror film yet besides 2016 (and the year is almost over), but Rupture was screened on July 15, 2016, during Montreal’s Fantasia International Film Festival, and will be released on Nov. 4 in the UK.
