The Flash, Season 2 (October 3-6): With Season 3 of The CW’s hit series returning this month, you better catch up fast. Though the first season was excellent, the story of Barry Allen truly hit its stride in Season 2. It’s arguably one of the best seasons of a superhero show ever put to screen. You owe it to yourself to check it out (or just burn a long weekend getting reacquainted before Flashpoint).
Arrow Season 4 (October 3-6): You can’t have Flash without Arrow. The new season of The CW’s original DC series is also hitting Netflix this month, and it’s still a solid performer (plus you’ll need to watch Arrow to keep up with the Flash crossovers). This season takes a deep dive into the mystical, features some shocking twists, and also includes a memorable cameo from Matt Ryan’s Constantine. Not bad for Year Four.
iZombie Season 2 (October 3-6): It doesn’t exactly fit with the superhero fare, but you’d be remiss to skip The CW’s other DC series. iZombie is one heck of a fun, dark and funny series. The first season was excellent, and Season 2 only built on the quirky saga of a morgue employee who is actually a zombie. If you’re looking for something outside the box, you could do far worse.
Black Mirror Season 3 (October 21-26): The underground hit that streaming built. This British sci-fi anthology series is the spiritual successor to The Twilight Zone and we don’t use that phrase lightly. The series quietly became a monster hit after the first two seasons became available on Netflix, to the point the streaming service kicked in to actually bankroll this new season. Don’t miss it.
