The new USA series Falling Water doesn’t actually premiere until next month, but the network has gone ahead and dropped the full pilot online right now. Want a peek?
The series tells the story of three unrelated people who come to realize they’re all dreaming different parts of the same dream. This kicks off a search for answers within their subconscious, but the deeper they go, the more they realize just how much is at stake. It’s pretty trippy, and there’s a lot to unpack in the pilot, but it’s a fascinating premise. The series comes from producers Gale Anne Hurd (The Walking Dead), Blake Masters (Brotherhood) and the late Emmy Award winner Henry Bromell (Homeland).
“We wanted the core mythology to be very, very simple yet flexible. Something that we could spell out to the audience by the first season and still have a terrain on which to play drama. Then you can actually do what television is great at, as opposed to cinema,” Masters said recently. [Y]ou are planting a tree, and you've got to see where it grows. If you have a flexible and simple mythology, you have the flexibility to take the story where it naturally wants to go, where the characters want to go, because, really, in the end, in television, characters drive everything, and that's where the great writing is.”
The series stars Lizzie Brochere (American Horror Story: Asylum, The Strain), David Ajala (Fast & Furious 6) and Will Yun Lee (Hawaii 5-0)
Falling Water premieres Oct. 13.
