Dr. Alan Grant is coming to Thor: Ragnarok. I repeat: Dr. Alan Grant is coming to Thor: Ragnarok. Well, sorta, since actor Sam Neill revealed over the weekend that he had joined the cast of director Taika Waititi’s Marvel movie.
During a video interview with Short List, the actor revealed that he had already filmed some scenes for Thor’s third solo outing when he was asked if Taika Waititi — with whom he has worked on Hunt for the Wilderpeople — had nabbed him for some future Marvel projects. Here’s what Neill said:
“Oddly enough, I’m not really allowed to say this, and I can’t tell you what it is… I did a couple of days on Thor, just before I came over here.”
Unfortunately, Neill remained tight-lipped about the character he'll be playing in Thor: Ragnarok (‘cause: Marvel Snipers), but it’s pretty exciting to see the Jurassic Park star join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whatever the part. Sam Neill also touched upon Marvel’s world-famous level of secrecy.
“I had to sign all sorts of things that say if I say anything else, Marvel’s Secret Agents, and they are lethal, will come and get me, and probably my children as well.”
Along with Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Idris Elba, Karl Urban, Anthony Hopkins and Tessa Thompson, Thor: Ragnarok also stars Jeff Goldblum. As most of you will already know, Goldblum and Neill have starred together in Jurassic Park. Goldblum will be playing the Grandmaster.
Thor: Ragnarok is slated to open in movie theaters on Nov. 3, 2017. Who do you think Sam Neill could be playing in the Marvel film?
