Benedict Cumberbatch confirms Doctor Strange will show up in Avengers: Infinity War

Just in case you weren't sure, the Sorcerer Supreme will get in his licks against Thanos in Marvel's upcoming superhero blowout.

Speaking with Empire magazine (via Express/Screenrant) for its recent article on the making of the upcoming Doctor Strange movie, star Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed that after making his debut in that, Stephen Strange will indeed join forces with the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy (and maybe some Defenders, we said hopefully) in the massive cosmic battle against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.

After remarking on the "logistical challenge of aligning (my) schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany," Cumberbatch went on to say, "To get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter. So watch this space to see how that unfolds."

While it's not surprising that Strange will bring his supernatural powers to bear against the Mad Titan, it's kind of sweet to hear it right from the magician's mouth. But how will Strange connect to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe? Well, the betting money says to watch for a mid-credits or post-credits sequence following the end of Doctor Strange, and of course there was that recent photo from the set of Thor: Ragnarok (posted by director Taika Waititi) in which the God of Thunder was seen holding a business card bearing the address of Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum.

So, after Doctor Strange arrives on Nov. 4 -- just a scant six weeks away -- it seems clear that we're going to see him again, even for a moment or two, before he wields his powers along with the rest of our heroes in Avengers: Infinity War on May 4, 2018. Discuss how excited you'll be to see Strange alongside the Avengers below ...
