Image of the Day: Lucasfilm rolls out new Imperial droid from Rogue One

We've already been introduced to the rebel's surly security droid, Kaytoo, appearing in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, now we have a first glimpse of the new basic black astromech, C2-B5.  From the burnished surface and ominous appearance it appears this goth-looking droid has been given the full Imperial options package with its sinister shades of ebony.  The dark side machine was revealed by Lucasfilm on The Star Wars Show yesterday and is said to be an Imperial utility robot in the same class as R2-D2 and subject to frequent memory wipes to keep them subservient.  No details were given as to C2-B5's eventual role in the Star Wars prequel, but we'd love to see him in a death duel with R2.   What do you think of the Empire's new Darth Droid debuting in Rogue One?

Directed by Godzilla's Gareth Edwards, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story soars into theaters on Dec. 16, 2016.
