The first season of Syfy’s The Magicians took an interesting approach to F-bombs, by leaving them in and merely bleeping them out in the final cut. Well, all the naughty stuff is heading back to Brakebills.
The network (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed.) has announced plans to re-release the first season of the series, based on Lev Grossman’s book series of the same name, in uncensored cuts via the network’s Syfy Now app and Syfy.com. All 13 episodes of the first season will be released in uncensored cuts beginning today and running through mid-December. So, if you missed out on the dark fantasy drama that’s basically a much darker Harry Potter with a lot of sex and drinking, this is a perfect time to catch up.
This is an interesting direction for the network to take, but considering the language is so engrained into the characters and the narrative (they are a bunch of college-age kids boozing their way through magic school, after all), it makes sense they’d offer an unadulterated cut of these episodes. Plus, as FX’s Atlanta has shown this season, there’s certainly room for some F-bombs in the basic cable repertoire.
The second season of The Magicians is set to premiere in early 2017 on Syfy.
