While the critical panning of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad made us believe Warner Bros. would reconsider going ahead with their planned Harley Quinn spinoff movie, the supervillain team-up film’s financial success — and a deal with actress Margot Robbie — just insured that the movie is pretty much a go.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Margot Robbie has signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros. to develop and produce feature films through her LuckyChap Entertainment banner.
Warner Bros. and Robbie already have a solid relationship together, with Robbie having already starred in Focus and The Legend of Tarzan for the studio, before starring in Suicide Squad, which has now grossed over $700 million worldwide, thanks in part to the Aussie actress' turn as Harley.
Robbie already has two projects in the pipeline for the studio, the first one being an adaptation of Dean N. Jensen’s Queen of the Air, in which she’s attached to star, and the Suicide Squad spinoff with her Harley Quinn character, which, we're told, will also include other DC heroines. Could we possibly see the introduction of Batgirl in the DCEU? Let's cross our fingers!
What do you think? Are you excited about Warner Bros. going ahead with the Harley Quinn movie? Which DC heroines would you like to see make their cinematic debut?
