Some action-packed footage of Superman actor Tyler Hoechlin battling a kryptonite-wearing foe has emerged as filming on the Vancouver set of The CW’s Supergirl is going roundly.
The superhero series is currently filming the first two episodes of Season 2 where we know Supes and his alter-ego Clark Kent will appear when the show opens in the fall. The set video below shows the Man of Steel in an intense fight with a mysterious villain wearing kryptonite on his chest. But the kryptonite is not affecting Superman, and this may have to do with the strange contraption he’s wearing on his chest, which is covering his Superman shield.
Comic Book Movie posits that the man could be classic DC Comics supervillain Metallo in human form. Or not. Metallo, real name John Corben, was a cyborg who appeared in the pages of the Superman comics. His trademark is the kryptonite power source embedded in his chest that he often uses as a weapon against the Man of Steel. Even if I think there’s a fairly good chance the man Kal-El is fighting is indeed Metallo, let's wait and see until we have any sort of official confirmation. Check it out below, and let us know what you think.
Supergirl Season 2 will premiere on Oct. 10 on The CW.
