Anyone who's been indoctrinated into the dark exploits of the infamous Sith Lord in Marvel's Star Wars: Darth Vader comic will be shedding tears both public and private when the acclaimed series ends later this month with Darth Vader #25. This has been one of my personal pull-list favorites from Marvel, and I've loved examining Vader's complicated motivations, sardonic wit and nefarious methods of operation as he searched for Luke Skywalker over the past two years, thanks to some excellent writing by Kieron Gillen and a small task force of incredible artists and colorists, such as Salvador Larroca, Mike Deodato, Edgar Delgado and Frank Martin Jr. It's been an awesome ride, and we wish the creative team all the best as they embark on their next creative projects.
Here's the solicitation synopsis:
It has all built up to this! Vader’s trials against Cylo’s creations! His machinations against the Emperor! His covert missions with Doctor Aphra and her murderous droids! All comes to fruition in an oversized 40-page issue by the stellar team of Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca! You won’t want to miss this ending!
To send the sinister Sith out in grand style, Marvel Chief Joe Quesada has produced a valiant Vader variant cover for the final issue. Have a look at Quesada's depiction of the baddest dude in the galaxy and tell us if you've enjoyed this monumental Darth Vader series.
Striking comic shops on Aug. 31, Star Wars: Darth Vader #25 will be an oversized edition, with additional variant covers by Adi Granov, Jamie McKelvie, Michael Cho, Cliff Chiang, Chris Samnee and more.
