Blast off with this hilarious new SDCC trailer for Season 2 of Con Man

Comic-Con HQ has finally released the first teaser trailer for the second season of Alan Tudyk’s hilarious Con Man series, which parodies The Right Stuff. Or, in this case, we should call it "The Wrong Stuff." The teaser was first shown during San Diego Comic-Con almost two weeks ago, but has just debuted online.

The star-studded series stars Tudyk as Wray Nerely, a struggling actor who starred as a spaceship pilot on a cult sci-fi series called Spectrum, trying to get off the convention circuit and jump-start his flagging career. Con Man is a parody series (and quite a meta one) created by Tudyk where he and pal Nathan Fillion play versions of themselves as they navigate the wonderful world of comic book conventions. Fillion plays the much more successful Jack Moore.

During the show’s Hall H panel at Comic-Con, Tudyk explained Season 2 was a musical version of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, titled “I’m With Stupid,” and that the idea was inspired by conversations he had with The Incredible Hulk's Lou Ferrigno over the years at various conventions -- especially one particular convo they had about Of Mice and Men.

“That one little thing spawned all of that craziness,” Tudyk said, revealing that Ferrigno will play the character of George while Tudyk will be Lenny. “There’s no one else who could have done it,” Tudyk added. “Without Lou, it doesn’t happen.”

He also added that the show will keep on making fun of Con culture:  “There are so many more things to write about,” Tudyk said. “[You walk around a con and say] ‘This is the only place that would happen.’ Events you want to exploit for comedy because the stakes are so high and magic can happen.”

Last season saw quite a few actors from the convention circuit guest star on the series, including: Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica), Casper Van Dien (Starship Troopers), Amy Acker (Angel, Person of Interest), Nolan North (Uncharted), Felicia Day (Supernatural, The Guild), Wil Wheaton (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings) and Firefly alums Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Gina Torres and Sean Maher, and much, much more (including Joss Whedon). So I think it’s safe to say we can expect even more awesome celebrity cameos in the upcoming season.

Season 2 of Con Man will premiere exclusively on Comic-Con HQ in November 2016.
