Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky on bringing back the time-traveling swordsman

Jack is back -- Samurai Jack, that is. The highly stylized animated series detailing the time-hopping adventures of a displaced samurai was a huge critical hit and fan favorite when it ran on the Cartoon Network from 2001 to 2004, but it's been a long time since we've gotten a taste of anything new from creator Genndy Tartakovsky and his team. That's about to change, as it was recently announced that the series would be returning on Adult Swim as part of the Toonami block.

But how do you top such a classic series? To find out, we grabbed some time with Tartakovsky at San Diego Comic-Con. In our interview, he discusses the difficulty of making something better than everyone's idealized memory of the show, how making the new version of Jack is like creating a feature on a TV budget, and more. Check it out below.
