With Captain America: Civil War's home video release imminent, here's another goodie from the "bonus content" archives.
We're getting to see more teases of the bonus materials that will come when Captain America: Civil War arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and digital, including things like blooper reels, behind-the-scenes featurettes and hard-hitting documentaries, but the one thing that everyone always races to watch first is the deleted scenes file.
Most of the time those scenes don't offer anything that really seems compelling enough to have been included in the movie we saw in theaters, but occasionally they do provide some additional insight into a character, a plot point or a relationship.
Take this scene, newly posted online by USA Today (via Gizmodo), in which Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) square off in a brief but pointed exchange following the pursuit and capture of Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) that exposed T'Challa to be the Panther.
Natasha first uses her subtle little verbal tricks to psychologically evaluate the newly revealed superhero, but he rebuffs them easily. Then she decides to try and fluster him a little by suggesting that he's naive about the political situation he finds himself in by thinking he'll get to take Bucky back to Wakanda with him. But in the end it turns out that T'Challa had the upper hand all along.
It's a short scene, and not necessary to the overall narrative, but it does offer a little more depth to the relationship between the Panther and the Widow and gives us another opportunity to watch Boseman absolutely nail his role again, which he does at greater length in the movie itself.
Captain America: Civil War is out on digital Sept. 2, with the Blu-ray and DVD arriving on Sept. 13.
