50 of NASA's best images of space

Blastr isn't the only one who has an Image of the Day. NASA also delivers high-quality photos of the Earth, solar system, galaxy and universe on a daily basis. And within them, we get an eyeful of varying terrains and atmospheres within our solar system, as well as a look at galaxy clusters that are almost too massive to comprehend. They're images wrapped within a philosophy lesson.

These pictures, taken by satellites and telescopes, are here to inspire us ... as well as show off our tax dollars at work. I culled some of the more attention-getting ones, below. Make sure to look at the captions. You may be surprised to learn that what looks like the Sahara is quite inaccessible by camel.

Let us know in the comments which ones are your favorites. (I'm partial to anything with galaxies.)
