Head into the wild, sci-fi future of HBO's Westworld with several new pics

With production back on track and a premiere date in sight, HBO has released some new pics from its high-concept sci-fi series Westworld.

The series is an adaptation of Michael Crichton’s 1973 sci-fi flick, with everyone from Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight) to J.J. Abrams (Lost, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) pulling the strings behind the scenes. The project is described as a “dark odyssey” about the dawn of artificial intelligence and the evolution of sin, filtered through the lens of a Wild West future amusement park populated with AI inhabitants.

The studio has released some new pics from the series (along with non-watermarked versions of some previous shots), and they show us both the slick sci-fi world behind the illusion and the cowboy fantasy of Westworld. Not surprisingly, they look fantastic and offer up a few more peeks at the series’ A-list cast.

The roster includes: Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Ed Harris, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Luke Hemsworth, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Jimmi Simpson, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Ben Barnes, Simon Quarterman, Angela Sarafyan and Clifton Collins Jr., among others

Westworld is set to premiere Oct. 2 on HBO.
