If you haven’t been reading The Wicked + The Divine (go ahead, we’ll wait), it’s one of the most ambitious comics currently on shelf. So, we caught up with the creators to talk about the genesis behind this epic saga.
Blastr chatted with writer Kieron Gillen and artist Jamie McKelvie about the conception of the series, and they dig into the tragic, real-life story behind the concept of gods being reborn, and the unique approach they take to the art (which took months to perfect). Gillen also gets into how the series is designed to hit on so many levels, as they try to deal with much wider themes that permeate the entire series.
They also break down the creative decisions that went into the formation of the mythology itself, and which parts happened on purpose and by accident. If you’re a fan of the comic, or just a fan of how comics are created, it’s a fascinating chat.
The Wicked + The Divine is on shelves now.
