Rumor of the Day: Here are the two actors up for Cable and Domino in Deadpool 2

Deadpool took the world by storm earlier this year when the movie went on to become a huge critical and box-office hit for Fox (which they needed after the debacle that was Fantastic Four) while winning the hearts of comic book fans everywhere.

As you all know, the film’s ending also teased the arrival of Nathan Summers, aka Cable, for a potential sequel (the powers-that-be just threw that one out there before getting the green light for a followup), which got fans even more excited for another Deadpool film, with Ryan Reynolds killing it as the Merc With a Mouth.

In recent months, a few actors have expressed interest in playing the role of the time-traveling mutant, including Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Sons of Anarchy) and Stephen Lang (Avatar, Terra Nova, Salem), while rumors that Neena Thurman, aka Domino, would also be joining Cable on the Deadpool sequel also emerged.

During a podcast episode of Meet the Movie Press, Mashable’s Jeff Sneider has revealed the names of the two actors being considered for the roles of Cable (who, in the pages of the Marvel comics, is the son of Scott Summers/Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor; a clone of Jean Grey) and Domino (remember to consider this as a rumor for now):

“People were talking about Cable from Deadpool 2. There's been a name floating around for Cable for months. Hasn't changed. Don't know if its changed. Didn't make any calls about this. This was just the name that has been out there for months. So take this with a gigantic grain of salt. The biggest grain of salt your tiny little brain can imagine. The name that is floating around for Cable right now is Emmy-winning actor Kyle Chandler. The name for Domino, who is said to be the scene-stealer of the movie, is Mackenzie Davis.”

If you’re going "Mackenzie who"? You've probably seen the up-and-coming actress in Halt and Catch Fire, The Martian, That Awkward Moment, and What If. She'll next be seen in Denis Villeneuve’s hotly anticipated Blade Runner sequel (plus the next season of Halt and Catch Fire). As for Kyle Chandler, you might have seen him in Friday Night Lights (for which he won an Emmy), Bloodlines, Zero Dark Thirty and Argo. He's a good actor fo sho, but can he be Cable?

What say you? Do you think Kyle Chandler and Mackenzie Davis would be perfect in the roles of Cable and Domino? Who else would you rather see?
