Something is coming in new trailer and poster for Netflix's Stranger Things

Netflix has released a brand-new trailer and poster for its upcoming original series, Stranger Things.

The upcoming eight-episode TV series stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers -- a mother whose young son, Will (Noah Schnapp), has mysteriously vanished. Also starring are Matthew Modine as Dr. Brenner, David Harbour as Chief Hopper, Charlie Heaton as Jonathan Byers, Natalia Dyer as Nancy Wheeler, Millie Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler, Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson and Cara Buono as Karen Wheeler.

The very Spielberg-ian TV series (it's giving me all the E.T. meets Close Encounters of the Third Kind meets Poltergeist meets J.J. Abrams' Super 8 feels so far) is set in Hawkins, Indiana, in the 1980s. It centers on the search for a young boy who disappeared without a trace. The new trailer, below, feels like a blast from the past, and I LOVE the poster, since it reminds me of all those awesome Drew Struzan posters from the 1980s and1990s. Check it out:

99 out of a hundred times, the missing kid is with a parent or relative. What about the other time?

A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Stranger Things was created and penned by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines, Hidden) who serve as co-showrunners and have also helmed several of the episodes. Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen executive-produce through their 21 Laps entertainment banner alongside the Russo Brothers Duffer Brothers, with Levy directing two of the episodes.

The first season of Netflix’s Stranger Things arrives July 15. Will this be a must-watch for you?
