Though the X-Men and Fantastic Four might’ve been sold off before the studio gained steam, Marvel still has a boatload of great characters sitting on the shelf — and it’s high time Squirrel Girl finally got her shot.
In an interview with Net-A-Porter, A-lister Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) said she would be interested in playing Squirrel Girl on the big (or small?) screen, after her brother introduced her to the comic and told her she’d be perfect for the role. After seeing a Photoshop mash-up of Kendrick in the role, it’s hard to argue. She’s proven to have the humor and quirkiness chops via Pitch Perfect, and Squirrel Girl is one of Marvel’s buzziest comics these days, thanks to an excellent run of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl by Ryan North and Erica Henderson.
Check out an excerpt from his comments below:
“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”
