First peek at Kurt Russell's elegant Ego costume for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

While we're still processing yesterday's awesome announcement of Kurt Russell playing Ego, The Living Planet and Star-Lord's father in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel unveiled one of the outfits Russell will wear in the rowdy space opera sequel.

We reported back in January that news had leaked of the sentient planet's inclusion in the GoTG 2 screenplay, but no one suspected Kurt Russell would embody the planetary presence, let alone be Peter Quill's pop as well.  This cool caped costume represents the human form of The Living Planet, because, well ... traveling around outer space naked could get a bit chilly, even for a destructive, all-knowing galactic entity.

Ego is one of the weirdest and most existential characters in the entire Marvel Universe, a living, contemplative planetary body heralding from the Black Galaxy, a dark nebula located deep within the Milky Way.  Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1966 and debuting in Thor #132, Ego was blessed with a hyperintelligent consciousness and could cruise around the cosmos seeking to conquer innocent planets and galaxies.

Inspect these new images in the gallery below, showing the formal threads Russell will be seen sporting when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 rockets into theaters on May 5, 2017, and tell us if you approve of this regal new costume.
