The Walking Dead's lone wolf is Gotham's Mad Hatter

Before Season 3, Gotham has to restock its rogues gallery. In two years, the show has given us The Penguin, The Riddler, Mr. Freeze, a version of the Scarecrow, and now the Mad Hatter. With Hugo Strange on canvas, we shouldn't be surprised another psycho's joining the ranks.

According to Deadline, The Walking Dead alumni Benedict Samuel has been cast as series regular Jervis Tetch, aka Mad Hatter. Jervis arrives in Gotham on a personal mission to find his long-lost sister, Alice. Although Jervis is a talented hypnotist, he's barely holding on to reality. There's no limit to how far or deep he's willing to go to find his missing sibling.

Samuel's performance on The Walking Dead is a great primer for this role. Who could forget all those scenes of him talking in circles while staring into nothingness? He was also very manipulative and could play on anyone's sympathy. In the comics, the Mad Hatter is all about mind control. He can direct his victims to do any and everything he wants. To say he abuses his power would be an understatement.

The Mad Hatter usually looks something like this.

Gotham returns Sept. 19 on Fox.

Do you think Samuel is worthy of the hat?
