The E.T. invasion intensifies in crazy new clips + TV spot for Independence Day: Resurgence

I've decided, with much deliberation and a little cognitive therapy, that regardless of my annoyance with the first Independence Day feature, I will relinquish my 20-year cinematic grudge and join my fellow sci-fi fanatics to see Independence Day: Resurgence later this month.  This could be a seriously fun time at the movies and a perfect summer diversion stuffed with brilliant special effects and harmless genre-specific pleasures.

With that burst of brimming optmism in the bag, here's a new pair of clips and TV spot from the Roland Emmerich invasion sequel, showcasing the paranoia and panic caused by the aliens' return to stomp out humanity once and for all. Watch Brett Spiner explain the true meaning of the creatures' incessant screaming and Jeff Goldblum and Charlotte Gainsbourg deciphering a mysterious cosmic symbol with DeObia Oparei, then sound off if you're going to embrace this old-fashioned popcorn flick when it rumbles onto the silver screen.

20th Century Fox's Independence Day: Resurgence opens June 24, 2016, and stars Liam Hemsworth, Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Maika Monroe, Angelababy, Sela Ward and William Fichtner.
