Here are the 2 directors Marvel is circling for Captain Marvel

Following news that Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room) was in talks for the role of Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel comes word that Marvel Studios is circling two female directors to helm its upcoming superhero movie.

Buried in the middle of The Hollywood Reporter’s report concerning Larson are the names of two directors who are currently being considered by Marvel. According to their sources, Marvel is looking at Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland, USA) and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook) as possible directors for Captain Marvel, though the character herself is likely to debut in the first part of Avengers: Infinity War in 2018.

Although neither woman has any experience directing a big blockbuster movie, I've got to admit that both choices are intriguing. Heck, just look at the Russo Brothers and where they are now!

Kent’s little horror film The Babadook made quite a splash when it came out in 2014, and Caro has been around since her 2002 breakout movie Whale Rider. She’s currently working on The Zookeeper’s Wife with Jessica Chastain (Crimson Peak), Daniel Bruhl (who played Zemo in this summer's Captain America: Civil War) and Iddo Goldberg (Salem), and is also working on a Maria Callas biopic starring Noomi Rapace (Prometheus).

What do you guys think? Who is the right woman for the job of bringing Captain Marvel to the big screen?
