VIDEO: Press start for the top 18 fictional video games from TV and movies

Throughout the month of June, Blastr will be celebrating our favorite digital diversions with Video Game Month: a look at some best, worst and wackiest from the world of shooters, space sims, strategy games and more.

The link between Hollywood movies and video games is an old one - who can forget the likes of The Wizard or the way Superman III used the sound effects from Atari 2600 Pac-Man? But while the two forms of media have crossed over repeatedly, some of our favorite moments have been when the creative minds behind movies make up their own forms of digital entertainment. From Starfighter arcade cabinets that are actually recruitment tools for interstellar war to the organic virtual reality fever dream that is eXistenZ, some of moviemaking's fictional digital entertainments have had us wishing we lived in a world in which they were actually playable.

As part of Blastr's month-long celebration of all things video games, we thought we'd take a look back at our favorite fictional games from the world of sci-fi entertainment. Check it out below, and let us know your favorites in the comments!
