Gotham has found its new Poison Ivy for Season 3

Last week, we learned that Fox's Gotham was looking to recast an older actress in the role of Ivy Pepper for Season 3 – a character that was heavily implied would eventually become Batman villainess and eco-terrorist Poison Ivy – and that the character would also be getting a major overhaul.

Well, 28-year-old Ted 2 actress Maggie Geha (The Rewrite, In Stereo) has been tapped to replace 14-year-old Clare Foley (Sinister) in the role. Geha will be playing a 19-year-old Ivy “Pamela” Pepper (as you guys know, this isn't the first time actors in their late 20s are playing teen characters, and it sure won't be the last) as a series regular for the upcoming third season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Season three of Gotham will see the Ivy Pepper finding herself reborn following an encounter with a monster from Indian Hill and one step closer to the DC villain she is destined to become: Poison Ivy. Now a 19-year-old woman who has harnessed the full power of her charms, she sets her sights on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz).

While the character appeared from time to time as Selina Kyle’s (aka Catwoman, played by Camren Bicondova) sidekick in previous seasons, Ivy will be coming into her own when Bruno Heller's pre-Batman comic book TV series returns this fall as she uses her newly acquired considerable charms to seduce young Master Wayne.

As viewers will recall, Season 2 ended with a bunch of Prof. Hugo Strange’s (BD Wong) Indian Hill monstrous experiments let loose on the streets of Gotham City. Oh, and there’s also the case of a Bruce Wayne lookalike and the Court of Owls making its presence felt. Should be fun!

Another new Gotham addition this year is actress Jamie Chung (Once Upon a Time), who’ll play the recurring role of Valerie Vale (Vicki Vale's aunt), a reporter on the hunt to uncover the truth behind Indian Hill and who'll set her sights on Ben McKenzie's Jim Gordon (who left town at the end of the second season), because she believes him to be the key lead in her story.

What do you think of Maggie Geha in the role of Poison Ivy? Gotham returns on Sept. 19 on Fox.
