Arrow adds DC Comics vigilante Wild Dog for Season 5

There will be a new vigilante in town when Arrow returns for Season 5 this fall. Entertainment Weekly reports that actor Rick Gonzalez (War of the Worlds, Mr. Robot) has been cast as DC Comics character Wild Dog.

A street level vigilante, Wild Dog first appeared in his own comic book series in 1987 and was created by Max Allan Collins and Terry Beatty. Named Jack Wheeler, Wild Dog was a former U.S. marine who was an expert marksman and hand-to-hand combatant who later became an auto-mechanic by day. His early career as a vigilante in Quad Cities was to fight American terrorists led by the “Committee for Social Change.”

Wild Dog was armed with a Jatimatic GG-95 PDW and a pair of electrified shock gloves. He wore camouflage pants, combat boots and a college football jersey emblazoned with a red dog that he uses to hide his protective body armor. He also wore a hockey mask to conceal his identity – much like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' Casey Jones (who was incidentally played by Arrow star Stephen Amell in Out of the Shadows) wears.

Here’s how Wild Dog is described for The CW’s comic book series:

Wild Dog is a new vigilante in Star City whose reckless and cocksure nature prompts Green Arrow (Stephen Amell) to take him under his wing.

Gonzalez will appear in multiple episodes of Arrow, starting with the season premiere, when the show returns in the fall. Are you excited about Wild Dog joining #TeamArrow for Season 5? What do you think of Rick Gonzalez in the role of the DC Comics vigilante?
