BBC Radio has found success adapting the works of Douglas Adams, and now the Beeb is heading back to the well one more time.
British Comedy Guide reports BBC Radio is adapting the novel And Another Thing, which was written by Eoin Colfer based on material Adams left behind in the wake of his 2001 death. The novel is the sixth book in the Hitchhiker’s Guide “trilogy” (yeah, you read that right) and followed Arthur Dent on a few more wacky adventures.
The book will be turned into a six-part series slated to air in May 2017 on BBC Radio Four, and it will reportedly include new material that has never been published. To make it even better, director Dirk Maggs is also working to lure back the original cast from the earlier adaptations: Simon Jones as Arthur Dent, Mark Wing-Davey as Zaphod Beeblebrox and Geoff McGiven as Ford Prefect, along with Sandra Dickinson (from the original television adaptation) as Trillian.
For anyone wanting to dig a bit deeper before next May, Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was adapted as a radio drama back in 1978, and BBC Radio most recently adapted Adams’ Mostly Harmless in 2005.
