First details for Guillermo del Toro's new fairytale movie The Shape of Water emerge

The first intriguing details about Guillermo del Toro’s mysterious Cold War-era otherworldly love story are slowly trickling out, and today the movie’s title -- as well as a synopsis of sort -- have been unveiled.

Titled The Shape of Water, the movie is rumored to star Sally Hawkins (Godzilla), with Octavia Spencer (Snowpiercer, The Divergent Series - Allegiant), Michael Stuhlbarg (Doctor Strange) and now Richard Jenkins (Jack Reacher) currently in talks to join the Fox Searchlight movie project.

According to what a rep for the picture told us, here's the official plot description:

An other-worldly story, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. A mysterious and magical journey from master storyteller Guillermo del Toro.

From the sound of things, del Toro will keep on playing in his usual fairytale/dark fantasy/supernatural sandbox (Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy, Crimson Peak). Where he excels.

A top priority for the always-busy Guillermo del Toro, shooting on The Shape of Water will begin sometime this summer. No release date has been slated as of yet. Again, this is all rumor as we've been told that nothing is set in stone. What do you think of the storyline for Guillermo del Toro's next supernatural movie project?
