AMC releases director's commentary for Preacher pilot with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg

The pilot episode for AMC’s Preacher was one of the most acclaimed debuts of the season, so now the network decided to go ahead and drop a commentary-filled cut with directors Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.

Though they’re typically relegated to DVD sets, commentary isn’t always necessary for all TV shows — but for something like Preacher, it’s almost a necessity. The series is a spot-on adaptation of a dark, bizarre, violent comic from the late 1990s. It also has an equally weird mythology woven through its DNA, and hearing Rogen and Goldberg geek out and dig into how the comics inspired the show is downright fascinating.

If you’re up for a deep dive into the creation of one of the buzziest new shows of the season, head over to AMC and check out the commentary cut of the pilot.

In case you missed out on the premiere (go watch it, we’ll wait), AMC is giving you an extra week to catch up before the second episode airs next Sunday, June 5. The series itself focuses on a Texas preacher (Dominic Cooper) who is given the ability to speak with the voice of God. Filling out the margins of his world is his ex-girlfriend Tulip (Ruth Negga) and a vampire Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun).

What’d you think of Preacher? Will you be adding it to your DVR season pass?
