Rumor of the Day: Fantastic Four actor in talks to play James Bond?

With Daniel Craig being highly vocal in his refusal to reprise the iconic role of 007 on the big screen again, the question of who will be the next James Bond is occupying fans and bookies everywhere.

Last week, it was reported that Craig had apparently turned down an offer of 68 million British pounds (about $100 million) to play Bond in two more films, but the BBC said sources had told them that “no decision is likely to be made for a while.”

Nevertheless, a few names have already been bandied about to replace Craig in the role, including Loki actor Tom Hiddleston and Being Human’s Aidan Turner. You can now add a third name to that list: Fantastic Four actor Jamie Bell. Yep. You read that right.

First reported in The Sun (not the most reliable source out there) a few days ago, Deadline (a much more reliable source) now confirms that Bell has discussed the role of the world’s most famous spy with long-time Bond movie producer Barbara Broccoli, who is also Bell’s producer on his Peter Turner biopic movie Film Stars Don’t Die.

Funnily enough, Craig and Bell played brothers in the 2008 war movie Defiance. Bell will next be seen as a highly trained SAS soldier in the upcoming movie 6 Days who leads the storming of the Iranian Embassy in London when it was taken over by armed gunmen in April 1980. Guess this is where we'll see if Jamie Bell really is Bond material.

The current favorite to take over the role is Hiddleston, who’s turned in a great performance in The Night Manager, showing that he can pull off action/spy roles. Betting on the actor was even suspended last week when Hiddleston was spotted talking to former Bond helmer Sam Mendes and Barbara Broccoli in London, but don't take this as an official confirmation.

What do you think of Jamie Bell as a potential James Bond?
