X-Men: Apocalypse's after-credits scene has been revealed!

Looks like a description of the after-credits scene for X-Men: Apocalypse has made its merry way online but, before you guys dig in, be aware that there are SPOILERS below.

Just last week, director Bryan Singer teased the after-credits scene to HeyUGuys by dropping an intriguing hint as to how it would set up the future of the X-Men Cinematic Universe. “We got a concept that we really wanted and it’s a nice little set up for…something.” Now, that something could of course involve Wolverine 3, Gambit, New Mutants, Deadpool 2 or even an upcoming X-Men film.

So what’s the mysterious after-credits scene? According to Bleeding Cool, the scene is setting up the arrival of Marvel Comics and X-Men villain Mister Sinister:

We see a besuited man walking through the remains of the Weapon X clean-up programme, removing the blood, bodies and bullets. And retrieving vials of Wolverine’s blood labelled Weapon X. And placing them into his briefcase which contains other vials of differing colours. Slamming shut, it is labelled ESSEX CORP.

Nathaniel Essex, aka Mister Sinister, is a superpowered and long-lived geneticist sporting a red diamond on his forehead who is literally obsessed with the Summers and Grey lines, so much so that he created a clone of Jean Grey named Madelyne Pryor who became Scott Summers/Cyclops’ first wife and the mother of Nathan Summers, aka Cable. Basically, Sinister is Cable's "grandfather" who hoped to use the boy as a weapon against Apocalypse. Long story short, Apocalypse infected the infant with a techno-organic virus, which was an incurable affliction. Cable was taken to the future where he was raised before he returned to the present day to stop the ascension of Apocalypse.

Now, back to Mister Sinister and the besuited man who took Wolverine's blood vial. Did Sinister take Logan’s blood in order to create Wolverine’s clone, X-23? It’s highly possible since the character is rumored to be introduced in the Adamantium-clad mutant’s upcoming solo film and it seems that Wolverine 3 has been casting scientists for the movie, indicating that Essex Corp may be the villain of the piece (or at least, one villain).

This after-credits scene could also lead to the long-delayed Gambit. After all, the Ragin’ Cajun’s had a long history with Mister Sinister. Or, better yet, will he be the Big Bad of a potential new X-Men movie? Or will he mess around with Charles Xavier’s young students in New Mutants? As for Deadpool, don’t forget a time traveling Cable is rumored to be in the Tim Miller-directed sequel and, yeah, history.

What do you think of the after-credits scene? Are you looking forward to possibly meeting Mister Sinister in an upcoming X-Men Cinematic Universe movie?
