S.H.I.E.L.D. star says Marvel doesn't care enough about connecting to the MCU

Aside from the occasional subplot and idle background chit-chat on TV news, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) doesn’t have a whole lot of crossover with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Well, one of the show’s stars has had about enough of it.

While speaking at the Wizard World Des Moines convention, Chloe Bennet (Quake/Daisy Johnson) lamented the lack of connections between the MCU during a Q&A session with fans. She said she’d love to bring Quake to the big screen, but said there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of interest from the film side.

Here’s an excerpt from her comments, via Bleeding Cool:

“I don’t know. People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Cause they don’t seem to care! … The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to do that, but they don’t seem to keen on that idea.”

Which, yeah — Bennet makes some good points. The big selling point for S.H.I.E.L.D. was that it would weave into the tapestry of the MCU, while the Netflix projects were designed from top down to tell a more separate, street-level type of story. S.H.I.E.L.D. was always pitched as the show that would keep the MCU living and breathing between films, but it’s never really paid off that way (aside from a handful of largely inconsequential crossovers).

What do you think? Is S.H.I.E.L.D. doing a good job of connecting, or would you like to see more?
