Salem unleashes a first intense Season 3 teaser trailer and targets a premiere date

WGN America has unleashed the first intense teaser trailer for the upcoming Season 3 of their hit supernatural drama series Salem

In a press release, the network also announced that the third season would premiere during Halloween week, so mark your calendars, you guys.

A “bloody, sexy and fantastical reimagining of Colonial America” the new season of Salem will introduce Marilyn Manson as a barber surgeon named Thomas Grinley in a guest-starring role. In a way, Manson has been a staple of the TV series since the beginning as he’s the one who co-wrote (with Tyler Bates) and sings the show's theme song, “Cupid Carries a Gun.”

Titled “The Witching Hour,” the teaser trailer hints at the return of Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) who sacrificed her life for John Alden's (Shane West) in the dramatic Season 2 finale. “Raise the dead. And you never know what you raised.” Indeed! Check it out:

Here’s the official synopsis for Season 3:

The third season of “Salem” dawns with the triumph of the witches' plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital.  But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself.  And there's only one person on earth who can beat the devil -- the very witch that birthed him, his mother, Mary Sibley.  The only problem is—she's dead.  Or is she?

Created by Brannon Braga and Adam Simmon, Salem stars Janet Montgomery (Human Target), Shane West (Nikita), Seth Gabel (Fringe), Ashley Madekwe (Revenge), Tamzin Merchant (The Tudors), Elise Eberle (The Astronaut Farmer), Iddo Goldberg (Mob City), Joe Doyle (Raw), Oliver Bell (The Saint) and, of course, Marilyn Manson.

Did you notice that Ashley Madekwe is listed as a Season 3 regular, even though her character, Tituba, apparently met a gruesome demise last season? Ding dong, the witch's not dead? Interesting. I'm looking forward to see how the upcoming season will play out. How about you?
