Lok'Tar Ogar! This fantastic full-scale World of Warcraft orc outfit looks like it just charged off the screen from Duncan Jones' new Warcraft movie or the latest version of the World of Warcraft video game, with enough attitude and awesome detail to lead the Horde to victory. Created by Steven K. Smith of SKS Props, it was a labor of love that began its life back in December using multiple photo references and a whole lotta foam and fake fur.
Read what Smith had to say on his build blog as he embarked on this monstrous undertaking:
Here is my big project for the beginning of 2016. I will be constructing a full scale Orc from the World of Warcraft! I have wanted to build a badass orc for a couple of years now and I figured that this would be the best time to jump in. I started planning the scale and logistics of this build back in May. But because of conventions and orders I have only been able to work on it for a few hours here and there.
Like all of my other costumes I start off with a bunch of reference pics. I decided that I didn't want to make a specific Orc from the series but a version that is based off of the original concepts. That entails green skin, red armor, tons of spikes, and a nasty attitude!
Worn by Smith himself, this killer cosplay took home 1st place in the highly-competitive US Region category at last weekend’s C2E2 Cosplay Championships in Chicago, with Weta Workshop designer Leri Greer attending as one of the panel judges.
Check out the impressive handiwork in the gallery below and tell us if you'd rally behind this imposing Orc against the Alliance.
