X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer has taken to Instagram to reveal our first look at The Blob for the upcoming mutant-filled movie.
It’s not the first time the supervillain and future Brotherhood of Mutants team member who possesses super strength and an immense amount of flexible body mass that's nearly impenetrable — that is, as long as he can touch the ground, The Blob can generate a gravity field that makes him virtually immovable — has been portrayed on the big screen.
The character first appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), in which he was played by a fat-suit-wearing Kevin Durand (The Strain, Vikings), who was virtually unrecognizable thanks to the heavy (no pun originally intended) prosthetics.
The image released by Singer with the caption “Mutant Martial Arts. Light as a feather,” features The Blob on his back, having obviously been beaten by Ben Hardy’s Angel during a cage match. Remember the first time we saw Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the first X-Men? Ah. Good times.
X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters on May 27, 2016.
