Syfy teaming up with Timehop for 12 Monkeys photo promo campaign

With the second season of Syfy’s 12 Monkeys set to debut on Monday, the network is teaming up with the popular nostalgia app Timehop for a unique promo campaign to build some buzz for the series.

The network (Corporate owner of Blastr -Ed) will partner with mobile app Timehop to send fans back to the 1940s through an exclusive, one-week only integration with the digital nostalgia app that collects users’ socially-shared photos to create new ways of social memory storytelling. The partnership launches the same night 12 Monkeys returns for its second season Monday, April 18 at 9 p.m. (ET/PT), and will allow users to make their photos look as if they’re from the 1940s (an era that plays a key role in Season 2).

Per the network, every user who opens the Timehop app on April 18 will be greeted by a full screen image encouraging them to utilize the 12 Monkeys share frame. When users want to share one of their memories in Timehop, they'll have options of share frames with phrases and logos to add to their photos. 12 Monkeys will be the top/default share frame, and when applied it will create a sepia-like effect on their photos, making them look like they're older.

The new season looks to send the time-hopping team (see what we did there?) on a mission to several new eras, with the 1960s and 1970s joining the 1940s on the docket. Be sure to check out our interview with the showrunner and cast before the premiere.
