Image of the Day: First official poster for Marvel's Doctor Strange casts a spell

Marvel has released the first official poster for Doctor Strange, ahead of the movie's first preview on tonight's Jimmy Kimmel Live.

In the poster, the Sorcerer Supreme (Benedict Cumberbatch) is seen -- his Cloak of Levitation on his back -- in his Sanctum Sanctorum, gazing out the Window of the Worlds, a circular window designed as the Seal of Vishanti which serves to protect the Sanctum from supernatural threats and invaders.

In the Marvel comics, this is where Stephen Strange has his meditation room and his occult library, where he keeps ancient and magical artifacts, such as the Book of Vishanti and the Orb of Agamotto.

In "Doctor Strange," famous neurosurgeon Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) suffers career-ending injuries in a devastating car crash. Seeking help in the furthest reaches of the world, Strange uncovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions!

Doctor Strange will cast a spell in theaters on Nov. 4.
