Cinemax has unleashed a creepy new promo for The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s new exorcism drama series, Outcast.
The upcoming horror TV show is based on Kirkman and artist Paul Azaceta’s Skybound/Image comic title of the same name. This time, instead of zombies, Kirkman tackles demonic possession head-on.
The 10-episode supernatural drama (which has already been renewed for a second season by the premium cable network two weeks ago) stars Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous), Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) and Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Brent Spiner, who pops up in the teaser.
The cast also includes Gabriel Bateman (Stalker), David Denman (13 Hours), Melinda McGraw (The X Files, Mad Men), Grace Zabriskie (The Killing), Catherine Dent (The Shield, Astronaut Wives Club) and Lee Tergesen (The Americans). Have a look:
Here’s a synopsis for the new Cinemax series:
Outcast follows Kyle Barnes (Patrick Fugit), a young man who has been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now, with the help of the Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister), a preacher with personal demons of his own, Kyle embarks on a journey to find answers and regain the normal life he lost.
Back in December, Kirkman explained the differences between Outcast and The Walking Dead, saying:
“If The Walking Dead is the zombie movie that never ends — about these people surviving for years and years in a way you’ve never seen in a zombie movie before — Outcast is about people treating demonic possession as a solvable problem. So as opposed to performing an exorcism and leaving, packing up your stuff like, 'Call me up when the next one happens,' these people are going to be engaged in what’s actually going on, how to prevent it, and how to stop it once and for all.”
Will the power of Christ compel you to watch Outcast when the show premieres on Cinemax June 3?
