Worlds collide in new international trailer for Duncan Jones' Warcraft

A new international trailer for this summer’s upcoming epic fantasy movie, Warcraft, has emerged.

Directed and co-written by Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code), the film is the big-screen adaptation of Blizzard’s MMORPG World of Warcraft, with the very first video game in the series, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans (1994), being the primary inspiration. Warcraft will depict the origin story of the very first encounter between The Alliance (made up of humans) and The Horde (the Orcs).

As you'll see below, the film keeps looking better and better with every trailer and TV spot that comes out of the woodwork, and I've a pretty good feeling that by the time Warcraft rolls around in movie theaters, the effects will wow us. At least, I hope so! Crossing my fingers and toes. Have a look:

As I said above, the screenplay was co-written by Duncan Jones and Charles Leavitt, who wrote last year’s Chris Hemsworth starrer In the Heart of the Sea. Here's the synopsis:

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

The Universal/Legendary Pictures/Blizzard Entertainment movie features a pretty great cast, including Vikings’ own Travis Fimmel as Sir Anduin Lothar, Toby Kebbell (Fantastic Four) as Orc chieftain Durotan, Robert Kazinsky (True Blood, Second Chance) as the legendary Orgrim Doomhammer, Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol) as half-orc warrior Garona, Ben Foster (X-Men: The Last Stand) as Medivh, Dominic Cooper (Agent Carter, Preacher) as King Llane Wrynn, Clancy Brown (Sleepy Hollow) as Blackhand, Ruth Negga (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Preacher) as Lady Taria, Daniel Wu (Into the Badlands) as Gul’dan and Ben Schnetzer (The Book Thief) as Khadgar.

Are you for The Alliance, of The Horde? Warcraft will soar into movie theaters on June 10.
