First trailer for Wayward Pines Season 2 pulls back the curtain on the big mysteries

Fox’s ambitious event series Wayward Pines became a bona fide hit thanks to DVR viewership, so the network decided to bring it back for a second season. But how’s it going to work?

The network has released a trailer/featurette, including footage from the new season and some interviews from the creative team. The big news? Season 1 cast members Charlie Tahan (Ben Burke), Shannyn Sossamon (Theresa Burke), Carla Gugino (Kate Hewson) and Hope Davis (Megan Fisher) will all be back this season. They’ll be joined by new stars Jason Patric (The Lost Boys) and Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy).

The story itself will pick up a few years in the wake of the first season, with the First Generation now in full control of the city. They’ve doubled down on the crazy rules that held the place together in the early days, and the city is even more dangerous than when Ethan Burke was roaming the streets. The producers also promise we’ll learn a lot more about the “Abbies” this season, as the monstrous remains of humanity might actually have a goal more complex than KILL KILL KILL.

Wayward Pines returns to Fox on Wednesday, May 25.
