DC's Geoff Johns promises 'big plans' for Booster Gold, Legends appearance possible

A live-action version of Booster Gold has been in and out of development hell for years now, but it sounds like the time-traveling DC hero might finally get his shot in the spotlight soon.

In an interview with Comic Book, DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns confirmed that the studio has “big plans” for Booster Gold and that fans should see something “very soon.” Before we dig any deeper into that, here’s the choice excerpt from his comments:

“You’ll see [Booster Gold] very soon, and there’s talks about…there’s actually a lot of plans for Booster Gold, one of my favorite characters. But yeah, Booster Gold fans, you will definitely be happy with what we’ve got coming up in the years ahead.”

Breaking this down, there’s really only one place Booster Gold could fit in DC’s small- (or big-) screen plan: The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow. Couple that with a new report from TV Line claiming the season finale of Legends will feature a “beloved superhero from the DC canon” whose mysterious agenda serves as “a launching off point for (the recently confirmed) Season 2,” and all signs seem to point toward Booster Gold.

The creative team behind Flash and Arrow, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg, actually had a Booster Gold TV project in development back in 2013 at Syfy — thought it never made it out of development. They obviously have a soft spot for the character, and setting him up as a key player in Season 2 of Legends seems like the perfect fit.

If it works well, who knows? That Booster Gold series might finally see the light of day, after all.
