Stephen Amell announces sci-fi film Code 8 and releases the first trailer

Arrow star Stephen Amell is adding one more arrow in his quiver by revealing over the weekend that he’s been working on an upcoming sci-fi movie titled Code 8.

The actor made the announcement via his Facebook page, where he premiered the movie’s first official trailer. He also revealed he was working with his cousin, Robbie Amell (The Flash, The X-Files), who stars in the film alongside Fast & Furious actor Sung Kang.

Code 8 is directed by Jeff Chan (Call of Duty: Operation Kingfish) and also stars Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Chad Donella (Saw 3D: The Final Chapter) and Alfred Rubin Thompson (Abstraction), but there’s no real information about the movie besides what the trailer tells us:

“4% of people possess abnormal abilities. They make up 60% of all arrests.”

From the looks of it, the police have a robot force and are in possession of some high-tech futuristic gear to arrest those metahumans superpowered people. (Hey, they were just building a roof!) Oh, and there’s a countdown to March 22 on the official site. Have a look:

It’s interesting to note that Stephen Amell is not listed as an actor on the movie and, as ComicBook.com points out, it’s more than likely that he is acting as a producer on the project.
